FAQs

Q?

How do you deliver your product?

A.

Small orders are shipped via USPS or UPS, whichever is the least expensive. Larger orders are put out for bid with gyppo truckers, taking the speed and freight costs into account.

Q?

What chemicals do you use?

A.

The only chemical we use on any wool in our mill is Dawn Dish Soap. If it's a safe enough for animals in oil spills, it is safe enough for us. It has a quick biodegradability turn over and as you can see from the plants and beasts in our water recycling ponds, it is pretty safe.

Q?

Why aren’t you Organic or GOTS or certified with other foreign entities?

A.

As a former organic producer of grain and sheep, I don't feel the organic programs of today are worth dealing with in the textile department. It is another expense, and now that big business is involved, the integrity has left most of the programs. For an extra $800 we can buy a variance to certify wool that is not processed organically and sell it as organic wool. Several inspection programs are only about the money. our Montana Pure standards exceed any organic standards, and we know the product, we don't just push the paperwork. When all imported wool from 2nd and 3rd world countries is certified 'organic' the system is flawed. So we run our own system, open to inspection to anyone at anytime!

Q?

Where does your wool come from?

A.

All of our wool is from Montana, it is the best available! Our state produces about 2,000,000 pounds of wool yearly, we buy some of that and process it all right here in Malta. Nothing leaves the state, this makes us the lowest carbon footprint of all wool in the USA.
